Metallica - Download Festival 2012 (5/10)

Considering the fact Metallica were headlining and I had been looking forward to them all day, I was thoroughly disappointed. As their set list went on, I got more and more bored. Don't get me wrong it was fun at times but there was no pace to their set list even though they played the Black Album (which they played in reverse). They didn't really do much to keep the crowd captivated and spent about 5 minutes telling us how we were Metallica family. I don't want to see them again really, I was that disappointed.

Tenacious D - Download Festival 2012 (9/10)

Jack Black is amazing live. Honestly it was an amazing experience, they drew the largest crowd of the day and they were not there to disappoint. They played new songs from Rise Of The Phoenix but also songs like Tribute. Though the show lacked a bit of pace it was obvious everyone enjoyed it. They had an good but not great interaction with the crowd, they were easy to watch though and I would love  to see them again.

Steel Panther - Download Festival 2012 (8/10)

I'm not a particular fan of Steel Panther but I know now that they put on an amazing show. They are all extremely charismatic and had the crowd cheering (Even if it was for inappropriate things). They involved the crowd a lot introducing the band members and getting them to cheer for various reasons. There was also an abundant amount of boobs shown too, which the Download screens showed often. Corey Taylor also joined in for Death To All But Metal to me this was a great surprise and I think it was for all the fans. They attracted a huge crowd though and their music was fun, though crude, I wouldn't mind seeing them again.

Trivium - Download Festival 2012 (9/10)

Absolutely lethal, are the two words to describe this band live. They played brand new songs (such as In Waves) along with the old classics  (like Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr) and challenged the crowd to make more than 6 circle pits at once. Though I personally don't think Matt's screamo is very good live he is still a kick-ass performer. They took full advantage of the stage around the snake pit, making sure to be there whilst shredding, and those in the snake pit were extremely privileged to be so close to these rock stars. I'll be sure to see them when they come back with As I Lay Dying, Caliban and Upon A Burning Body in October!

Black Veil Brides - Download Festival 2012 (10/10)

Contrary to popular opinion Black Veil Brides were actually really good. This is the third time I have seen them and despite being bottled it was the best performance I have seen them give. Andy showed the haters that he didn't care what they did he was proud of what he had achieved even if that included showing his ass to the whole crowd. He stood up to them and that is one of the reasons I have given them 10/10. Their set list was extremely fast paced and fun and even though they were on at 13:10 they had pyrotechnics which added a great atmosphere. Personally, I think they were the best band of the day.

Saxon - Download Festival 2012 (8/10)

Having never heard these guys I was blown away. They included the crowd in song choices and got them to sing along. It was particularly entertaining when the lead singer proceeded to roll across the stage on an equipment trolley. I enjoyed 'Wheels of Steel' thoroughly and have to admit I sang along once I got the gist of the tune. They may be getting old but they can definitely still rock.

As I Lay Dying - Download Festival 2012 (6/10)

I think I'm being a bit harsh here but it was the first time I had seen them and I really wasn't that impressed. But to be fair they were on first and that's a challenge for any band to rise to. The songs had a great pace and they had mosh pits going before you knew it. They lacked crowd interaction though and only spoke to introduce songs. But overall they we're okay.
